Yes, tea and coffee facilities in the room would have been nice, the pool could do with being warmer and cleaner, but all said and done the staff were beyond helpful, the food excellent and we were made really welcome. We really enjoyed our stay.

We found out only too late to enjoy it, but only 15 minutes walk (away from the city) is a water filled quarry used by the local swimmers. Described as a hidden treasure - it certainly is. Also ask at the desk for river trips - not very well publicised but again, an excellent day. Use Crazy Tours (the Trabant people) for your tour of Nuva Huta - most entertaining.

The Sympozjum hotel, Krakow is located approx 10 mins bus journey from town. It also conveniently has a Tesco across the road. The staff and service was top class as was the food in the hotel restaurant. Myself and my mother visited Krakow in April/May 2008 and were unable to find a fault with this hotel. It truly does live up to it's 5 star rating.

If you are looking to visit the city centre, I would recommend using the bus as it is both cheap and quick. The bus that we used was the 124 just across the road from Tesco. Alternatively you could take the number 19 tram (also situated across from Tesco) I also recommend that while in Krakow you take a trip to the Salt Mines and Auschwitz (The staff at the hotel are more than happy to help you book these trips)

It would be just that little bit better if there were tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Transport is necessary to get to the Town Centre and the many restaurants which most were value for money and suited everyone's taste.

There were many things to see in Krakow and I only wish we would have had longer to see more sights.
Auschwitz & Auschwitz II-Birkenau a must!

I was VERY disappointed when upon arrival at this hotel to be informed that the leisure facilities, i.e. the swimming pool, sauna and spa were being renovated!! Why were we not informed of this at the time of booking? If I had known, I would definitely NOT have booked this hotel. This was a special break for me and my partner to celebrate my 40th birthday without the children, and this was the main reason that I chose this hotel.

Auschwitz was excellent, Wieliczka Salt mines also a good day out and Zakopane in the mountains. Good restaurant in the market square, (Rynek Glowny) called Pod Sloncem. Piano Rouge good venue but overpriced and food very average.

Lovely hotel and people. The pool is a little on the small size. Local tram transport easy to get into town and Taxi's are cheep. Hotel is near a huge Tesco and fast food outlets. We had a lovely lunch of Polish food in the hotel.
Top Tip
Polish food is not for everyone but there are endless alternatives in the old part of the city.

Only gave facilities a 3 as sadly the swimming pool etc was closed for refurbishment. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Asked for more pillows and they arrived within 5 mins. Tesco just across the road was a godsend for cheap wine and nibbles and open 24hrs. Taxis are very cheap and do not keep you waiting ages for them to arrive. Doesn't take long to get to your destination - they tend to drive at one speed - not for the fainthearted!!!!!

Bars and restaurants are plentiful, cheap and good fun. Try the ones with live music but be careful some charge for the pleasure of listening. Auschwitz and The Salt mines are worth a visit. We booked ours through the hotel but noticed trips offered in the town centre were considerably cheaper. Theres load to see and do but you definately need longer than the 3 days we were there for. Will certainly go back.

Austwich and Salt mines a must. If your not leaving your hotel until later in the afternoon the salt mines trip is a good half day trip to make the day go quicker.
